Alternative Back Pain Treatment May Be the Newer Trend

from:

Back pains are a serious problem that affects 80% of the population at one time or another in their lives. Some people suffer from acute back pain that is gone in a few days or weeks. Others suffer from chronic back pain that lasts for months or longer. There are many types of treatments for back pain starting with simple pain relievers and physical therapy to surgery for serious back injuries. More and more patients are going to an alternative back pain treatment as opposed to all the traditional methods that have been used for years. One reason for the alternative back pain treatment is convenience and another reason is cost.

There is so much speculation on the news about prescription drugs and their side effects that many want an alternative back pain treatment where they won't need these drugs. If an alternative back pain treatment is successful in treating and curing the pain, the patient is also eliminated from going through many medical tests, injections, physical therapy and possible unnecessary surgery. This ultimately saves a lot of money on medical bills and health care costs.

Another name for alternative back pain treatment is 'natural' back pain treatment. Many patients have had success with these methods and have been able to lead normal lives during the treatments. Some of the alternative back pain treatment methods that are being used are:

Acupuncture- Acupuncture needles are used inserted along a pathway where there is pain on the back. The pain is from energy being blocked and the needles unblock the area. In a recent survey of over 150 patients with back pain, the ones that had acupuncture over traditional treatments were pain free much quicker and longer.

Capsaicin (cap-SAY-sin) Cream-This is the ingredient you will find in chili peppers. It is very effective when rubbed on the painful area four times a day. It can be found at health food stores, drug stores and online.

Vitamin D is very necessary for strong bones and muscles. A deficiency on Vitamin D can cause chronic muscle pain in your back. Good sources of Vitamin D are milk, fish and cereal.

Music Therapy has been proven a relaxant as well as an anti-depressant in people with chronic back pain. Listening to soft music will lessen anxiety and depression often associated with chronic back pain.

Vitamin B-12 is another vitamin that is very good for relieving pain in back pain sufferers. Dairy products and meat are both good sources of Vitamin B-12.

Magnesium is great for good muscle growth, strong bones as well as giving a good immune system to name just a few of the benefits of this mineral.

Willow Bark, Yoga and Bowen therapy are also some alternative back pain treatment methods many are choosing to use in their quest to get healthy quicker and eliminate back pain.
